Culturally Respectful Hospice Support for Diné Families in Window Rock, Chinle, Tuba City, and Kayenta
We are honored to introduce a new hospice care program designed with the deepest respect for Diné families in Window Rock, Chinle, Tuba City, and Kayenta. Our program is committed to supporting your loved ones with gentle, compassionate care that helps maintain comfort and dignity at home. Hospice care, as we envision it, is more than medical support — it is a way to nurture harmony in life and honor k’é, our sacred system of kinship, respect, and mutual care.
We understand that hospice is a sensitive and new topic for many in our communities. That’s why we are listening closely to families, elders, Community Health Representatives (CHRs), EMS, and chapter leaders before launching any services. Your guidance shapes how the program develops to ensure we align with Diné values and spiritual philosophies including hózhó, Sa’ah Naagháí Bik’eh Hózhóó (the life-way of balance and respect), and k’é.
Together, we are creating a trustworthy, culturally respectful resource that integrates modern hospice care with traditional healing practices while honoring family and community roles in caregiving.

Hospice care means gentle, compassionate support that allows loved ones to remain comfortable in the familiarity of their own homes. Trained nurses and caregivers provide 24/7 assistance to manage symptoms, ease pain, and promote physical well-being — all with respect for cultural practices and family needs.

Family members who care for elders and loved ones at home are the heart of our community. We offer education, emotional support, and practical guidance to empower caregivers in their important roles. Whether it’s helping with daily routines, medicine management, or navigating healthcare resources, we’re here to stand alongside you.

We deeply respect the vital role of traditional healing and Diné spiritual practices. Hospice care can work hand-in-hand with these sacred ways to support harmony and balance. While we honor confidentiality and sacred boundaries, we offer to coordinate respectfully with traditional practitioners according to your wishes and consent.
Your voice matters. We invite you to help shape this hospice program so it truly serves the needs of Diné families with respect and trust. There are many ways to participate:
